Book Group 7:00 p.m.  All are welcome to join in.  Come once, or come every month.   The Book Group typically meets the second Thursday of each month.  Watch here for exact dates.  Free.  

Thursday February 25   Book Discussion    Blond by Joyce Carol Oates

Thursday March 11  The group will discuss The March by E.L. Doctorow.  

Thursday April 8 The Farming of Bones by Edwidge Danticat

Handcrafters 9 am-1 pm -   experts and beginners alike are gathering each Thursday morning in March to teach and learn many handcrafts such as knitting, crocheting, weaving and rug hooking.   The group is also making blankets for the Linus Project.  To make projects to take home, please bring yarn and other supplies.  All are welcome - beginners and experts.  Coffee and tea will be available.  Cookie donations are welcomed!  Free.

Children's Story Hour  10 a.m. Tuesdays  Reading, arts and crafts.  All children welcome.  Free.

Pre-Schooler's Play Group  9:30 - 11:30 am Mondays  Parents and pre-schoolers are welcome to come and share time together.  Free.

Puppet Show 10:00 & 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 27 Two showings of the Primrose Puppets will return  to perform the Russian folk tale "The Snowmaiden".   This is the story of an old man and his wife who lived in the faraway land of Russia.  They had many, many animals, but longed for a child.  One day in winter, when the snow had fallen and was lying thick on the ground, something magical happened which changed their lives. Puppeteer Joanie Dean will perform with her puppet friends.  Free.

10 a.m. to noon Saturday March 13   Garden Talk with Master Gardener Sharon Turner    Come and prepare for spring and a new garden season.  Sharon will talk about seed selection, recommended vegetable and flower varieties, soil testing and improvement and sustainable and organic practices including the no-till method of weed control.  Time for questions, too.  Free but donations encouraged.  Please pre-register by calling the library at 845-2663 or send an email to gibbslibrary@hotmail.com.    Snow date - March 27.

 

7- 8:30 p.m. Saturday March 13   Kate Braestrup Talk & Book Signing    As part of her book tour for Marriage and Other Acts of Charity  Kate will speak at Gibbs Library.  Her new book offers a fresh look at marriage, faith and family, with her continuing message of "love more".  Her earlier book, Here If You Need Me, was a New York Times bestseller.  Free. If you'd like to donate cookies and baked goods for this event, please drop them off at the library Saturday during regular library hours.   We thank you!

11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Sunday March 21   Drum Circle for Peace  Join this international drumming event of 8,000 Drums for Peace held worldwide on the Solstice.  Led by Washington's Jody King, the event includes drumming and singing.  Beginners welcome.  Some extra drums available.  Free.

The Board of Trustees meets the First Monday of the Month except on holidays, at 7 PM in the Library.

The cookie cookbook from many patrons of our community is at the library and available for a $5 donation. Filled with cookie recipes both new and timeless and promises to be the most popular library cookbook ever.  Don't miss out!  Your $5 donation supports our all volunteer library and goes toward library operation, new books and community events.
