Welcome to the Gibbs Library

Our library is staffed entirely by an energetic and dedicated group of more than 40 volunteers. It is open to the public, free, self-sustaining and does not receive any funding from the Town of Washington. Almost 75% of the yearly budget is used for expanding the collection of books, CDs, videos, DVDs and computer equipment.
New book Washington, Maine: People and Places
celebrates town bicentennial.
The library gets its support from donations and grants. Your contribution allows us to provide new books, DVDs, CDs and ongoing programs throughout the year.
We continually provide programs for all age groups. View our monthly calendar of events as well as town events in the community section.
You can renew your books by sending an email to gibbslibrary@hotmail.com. Simply give us your name and the name of the books you want to renew. We will send you a confirmation with the new due date.
Our shelves have many great books to choose from. Search for a book at our online card catalog.
Want to know What's New? You can check out our top 15 new arrivals. Destiny Quest, which is part of our card catalog, allows you to not only find new arrivals, but search our catalog and find out if the book is currently on the shelf and view the Top 10 Books checked out.
Come in to the library and see our latest Art on Display. We feature local artists and photographers and the artwork changes periodically throughout the year.
Sign up for our e-newsletter. Find out what's coming up at the library. Receive upcoming events right in your e-mail inbox. (We respect your privacy and do not sell or give our email list to others.)
